First Openly Gay Orthodox Rabbi Ordained

Daniel Atwood was ordained in Jerusalem by Rabbi Daniel Landes, becoming the first openly gay person to receive Orthodox rabbinic ordination while already out. Previously, Rabbi Steven Greenberg (who came out publicly in 1999 after ordination) was considered the first openly gay Orthodox rabbi. Atwood's ordination represented a breakthrough in Judaism's most traditional denomination.
Impact & Significance
Pushed the boundaries of LGBTQ+ inclusion even within Orthodox Judaism, the most conservative major Jewish denomination.
