ILGA Publishes First 'State-Sponsored Homophobia' Report
ILGA published the inaugural edition of its State-Sponsored Homophobia report, authored by Daniel Ottosson. The report documented that 92 UN member states criminalised consensual same-sex sexual acts between adults, with several imposing the death penalty. The report became ILGA's flagship research publication, published annually or biennially with increasing detail. By 2024, the number of criminalising states had fallen to 60 — still roughly one-third of the world — and the report was relaunched under the title 'Laws on Us'.
