Formation of OutRage & First UK Lesbian and Gay Police Association

A candlelit vigil in London, held in response to rising homophobic violence, spurred the formation of OutRage!, a direct-action group led by Peter Tatchell. The same year saw the establishment of the first UK Lesbian and Gay Police Association, marking parallel advances in community self-defence and institutional representation.
