Polish Municipalities Begin Declaring 'LGBT-Free Zones'

The town of Świdnik became the first Polish municipality to adopt a resolution rejecting 'LGBT ideology', triggering a wave of similar declarations. By mid-2020, approximately 104 municipalities covering over one-third of Poland's territory had adopted such resolutions. The European Parliament condemned the zones in December 2019, and the EU withheld funding. The zones were gradually rolled back through court rulings.
