Texas Governor Orders Investigation of Parents Providing Gender-Affirming Care

Governor Greg Abbott directed the Department of Family and Protective Services to investigate parents providing gender-affirming care to their children, following an attorney general opinion classifying such care as 'child abuse'. The directive led to investigations of families, including a DFPS employee placed on leave. A district judge temporarily blocked the order before the Texas Supreme Court allowed investigations to resume.
