Argentina Passes World's First Gender Self-Identification Law

Argentina enacted the Gender Identity Law (Ley de Identidad de Genero), becoming the first country in the world to allow legal gender change through self-declaration alone. Any person over 18 can change their name, image, and gender on official documents through a free administrative process without medical diagnosis, surgery, hormone therapy, or judicial approval. Argentina Passes Landmark Gender Identity Law

Argentina enacted the Gender Identity Law (Ley de Identidad de Género), widely considered the gold standard of gender recognition legislation worldwide.
