David Copeland Nail Bombings Target London's Communities

Over three weekends in April 1999, neo-Nazi David Copeland detonated nail bombs targeting London's Black, Bangladeshi, and LGBTQ+ communities. The third and deadliest bomb exploded in the Admiral Duncan pub in Soho on 30 April, killing Andrea Dykes, Nik Moore, and John Light, and injuring 79 others. Copeland was convicted of murder in 2000 and sentenced to six life terms.
Impact & Significance
The attack on the Admiral Duncan galvanised support for hate crime legislation and became a powerful symbol of the violence LGBTQ+ communities face from far-right extremism.
