Iceland Unanimously Bans Conversion Therapy

Iceland's parliament voted 53-0 to ban conversion therapy, imposing up to two years' imprisonment for performing it on adults and up to five years for children. The law also applies extraterritorially to Icelandic citizens abroad and came into effect on 1 January 2024.
Impact & Significance
The unanimous vote reflected strong Nordic consensus against conversion therapy, adding Iceland to the growing list of countries with comprehensive bans.
