Switzerland Introduces Simplified Gender Change Process
Switzerland's amended Civil Code came into effect, allowing any person to change their registered legal sex by making a declaration at a civil registry office that they are firmly convinced their registered gender does not match their gender identity. No surgery, sterilisation, hormone therapy, or medical conditions are required. Persons under 16 require permission from a legal representative. In the first year, there was a significant increase in applications.
