Canada Criminalises Conversion Therapy (Bill C-4)
Bill C-4 came into force, amending Canada's Criminal Code to create new criminal offences for conducting conversion therapy, removing a child from Canada for the purpose, and advertising or promoting it. Penalties include up to five years' imprisonment. The bill unanimously passed both the House of Commons and Senate in a fast-tracked process after two predecessor bills had failed due to parliamentary prorogation and dissolution.
