Malta Becomes First European Country to Ban Conversion Therapy

Malta's parliament unanimously passed the Affirmation of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Gender Expression Act, criminalising any attempt to change, repress, or eliminate a person's sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. Practitioners face fines of up to €10,000 or imprisonment. The law applies to all ages and all persons.
